Colin Fraser, from the i3dTHEMES design lab was telling me about something the development team at the hugely popular space simulation game Start Citizen was saying about what they do. It went roughly “we solve problems you didn’t know you had, with technology you didn’t know existed”.
And that’s more or less what happens here too with our line of website designs and plugins, such as with our Accelerator website plugin.
This begs me to ask the question, if you’re not already using something like our Accelerator website plugin to speed up your website, have you realized how important it is to make sure your website has a good PageSpeed score? Apart from making sure your website is mobile responsive, tweaking your site to improve it’s page speed score is probably one of the easiest things you can do to appear more attractive to search engines such as Google.
Most of this week, was spent with performance optimization of the Accelerator website plugin. Delivery of optimized images, deferred JS and CSS was improved in HUGE way this week. If you run Accelerator on your website, run an update.
We probably have three to four more weeks of refinement of the Accelerator website plugin before we begin work on the WordPress plugin version, but we’re certainly getting closer.
This week at i3dTHEMES has seen a lot of custom client projects take up most of the time in the design labs. We’re now down to about four client projects in the queue, having worked through six in the last week. In addition, Colin has worked out 23 different topics that he’s going to be writing articles on for his design series. Expect to see him sharing his experience with UI/UX through the development of our Rasa website design.
As a bit of a footnote, we also began work on the Rasa WordPress theme, however it looks like it’s going to take a few weeks to get it built out as there are so many unique options in Rasa that we need to account for.
