What is a WordPress Theme?

A WordPress theme is a package of files that you import into your WordPress site which, when activated, instantly change the look and feel of your WordPress site.

Our WordPress themes come pre-assembled with a highly functional administrative interface to help take the guess-work out of managing your site.

If you do not already have a WordPress site, we have web hosting plans available at special rates for those purchasing a WordPress theme.

Can I use the domain name I already have?

Yes! You have two options if you already have a domain name.

The easy option:
Simply change the “nameserver” settings at your current domain name registrar to our nameserver settings. We give you the name of the new nameservers once you sign up for your hosting.

The other option:
We can actually transfer the domain name to us. This often is a little more complicated, and requires the domain name be unlocked, and that you provide an auth code to us. This can be done after you sign up for your web hosting by contacting our web hosting department.  Contact us if you would like to transfer the domain name to us.

When I try to edit a region of my page, the cursor turns into a circle with a slash through it which prevents me from editing that region — how can I edit this area?

This is because you are using FrontPage 2003, Expression Web, or Dreamweaver,  and the page you are editing is attached to a DWT (Dynamic Web Template).

The use of DWT technology allows you to have a common template or layout which a number of pages use. Update that one layout, and all pages attached to that DWT will change accordingly.

Look within the “Templates” folder inside your website template and identify the .dwt file that is attached to your page.

If you do not know which .dwt is attached to your page, open up the page that you are trying to edit, switch to CODE/HTML view and scroll to the top of the code.. look for a line that looks like:

#BeginTemplate “Templates/template.dwt”

This will tell you which DWT (master layout) you will need to edit.

What generation does my product fall into?

Generally speaking, the generation of products are as follows:

  • G1 – Products released about 2001
  • G2 – Products released about 2002
  • G3 – Products released about 2003
  • G4 – Products released about 2004
  • G5 – Products released about 2005
  • G6 – Products released after March 2006
  • G7 – Products series released after September 2006
  • G8 – Product series released after December 2007
  • G9/Phoenix – Product series released after September 2009
  • G10/Orion – Product series released after January 2012
  • G11/Aquila – Product series released after May of 2013

What software will I need to edit a web template?

Typically the only software you will need to edit one of our current generation products is a web editor such as:

  • Expression Web 1/2/3/4
  • Sharepoint Designer 2007
  • Dreamweaver CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC

Apart from a web editor, you may need photo manipulation software to resize your images. There are a number of free online services that you can use to do this.

Web Templates pre-packaged with a Server-Side Application

With our Numo server-side applications, you will need to have a Linux/Unix web server enabled with PHP and mysql. Your web server will also need to support .htaccess files (on Unix/Linux) or web.config files (on Windows IIS).

If you plan to purchase web hosting from us, you will need the “Standard Hosting” plan, or better.
