Position a page element
In Page view, do one or more
of the following:
Apply
absolute positioning
- In the Normal pane, add
the page element you want to position, and select it.
- On the Format menu,
click Position, and then
click Absolute.
- Specify the element's location.
How?
- To move the element, point to the
position box border until the cursor changes to a
four-headed arrow, click to hold, and then drag the
element to the new location.
- To set
pixel coordinates, select the element, and then, on
the Format menu, click
Position. Under
Location and size,
specify a value in the Left
and Top boxes.
Apply
relative positioning
- In the Normal pane, add
the page element you want to position, and select it.
- On the Format menu,
click Position, and then
click Relative.
- Specify the element's location.
How?
- To set
pixel coordinates, select the element, and then, on
the Format menu, click
Position. Under
Location and size,
specify a value in the Left
and Top boxes.
Set
the attributes for a positioned element
- In the Normal pane,
select the positioned element or
position box.
- On the Format menu,
click Position.
- Specify the settings you want:
- Under Wrapping
style, specify how you want the page elements to wrap
around the position box.
- Under
Positioning style, specify how you want the page
element to be positioned.
- To specify the dimensions and coordinates of the
positioned element, use the drop-down menus under
Location and size.
- To specify the z-order, which is the element's
position in the layers of the page, specify a value in the
Z-index box. A positive
value means that the element is in front of the main
text-flow layer (layer 0), and a negative value means the
item is behind it.
Tip
You can also specify several properties by using the
Positioning toolbar. To
display the Positioning
toolbar, click the View menu,
point to Toolbars, and then
click Positioning.
