Create a form to search a web site running on IIS
If your web site is published to a web server running
Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) (IIS:
Internet Information Services. Microsoft Web server software
that uses Hypertext Transfer Protocol to deliver World Wide
Web documents. IIS incorporates various functions for
security, allows for CGI programs, and also provides for FTP
servers.), the search form uses Indexing Service to
search the text index.
- In Page view, place the
insertion point where you want to create the search form.
- On the Insert menu,
click Web Component.
- In the left pane, click
Web Search, and in the right pane, double-click
Current Web.
The Search Form
Properties dialog box will automatically open.
- If the Search
Form Properties dialog box is not already open,
right-click the search form, and then click
Search Form
Properties on the shortcut menu.
- Click the
Search Form Properties tab.
- To change the label of the text box where site visitors
will type their search text, type a different label in the

box.
- To make the text box narrower or wider, type a smaller
or larger number in the
Width in characters
text box.
- Changing the size of the text box doesn't affect how
many characters a site visitor can type in the box. If a
site visitor types more characters than will fit in the box,
the extra characters will scroll off the left side of the
box, but all the text the site visitor types will be
submitted with the search form.
- To change the label of the
Start Search button on
the search form (that is, the button a site visitor clicks
to submit the search to the server), type a different label
in the
Label for "Start Search" button text box.
- To change the label of the
Reset button on the search form, type a different label
in the
Label for "Reset" button text box.
- Click the Search
Results tab.
- In the Scope
of search results section, select where the search
engine should search.

per page.
