Assign or change the program used to edit a file
Associate
a program with a file type
- On the Tools menu, click
Options, click the
Configure Editors
tab, and then click Add.
- In the File type box,
type the three-character extension of the file type you want
to add, such as "doc" for Microsoft Word files.
- In the Editor name
box, type the name of the program you want Microsoft
FrontPage to use to open that type of file.
- In the Command box,
type the path to the executable file for the program, such
as \Program Files\Folder Name\Program.exe, or
click Browse to locate the
file.
Change
the program associated with a file type
- On the Tools menu, click
Options, and then click the
Configure Editors
tab.

type the path to the executable file, such as \Program
Files\Folder Name\Program.exe, or click

Open
a file with a different program
- In any view except Tasks
or Reports view,
right-click the file you want to open from the
Folder List, and then
click Open With on the
shortcut menu.
- Select the program you want to use to open the file.
Remove
the association between a program and a file type
Important If you remove the association between a
file type and its editing program, you won't be able to open
files of that type when you're working in Microsoft FrontPage.
You should associate the file type with a different program
rather than remove the association entirely.
- On the Tools menu, click
Options, and then click the
Configure Editors
tab.
- Select the file type or program association that you
want to remove, and then click
Remove.
