Add borders around text
In Page view, do one of the
following:
Create
a four-sided border
- Select the paragraphs around which you want to add a
border.
- On the Format menu,
click Borders and
Shading.
- Under Setting, click
the Box icon. Set properties
for the border by selecting options in the
Style,
Color, and
Width boxes.
Create
a custom border
- Select the paragraphs around which you want to add a
border.
- On the Format menu,
click Borders and
Shading.
- Under Setting, click
Custom.
- From the Style box, click
a border style. You can also select options from the
Color and Width boxes.
- Under Preview, apply
the border to one or more sides by clicking the buttons
corresponding to the side you want to add.
- To specify the padding (the distance between the text
and its border), under Padding,
enter a value in the Top,
Bottom,
Left, and
Right boxes in
points.
Tip
To quickly add a border, select the paragraph around which
you want a border, click
Outside Borders
,
and then click the arrow to select the type of border you
want.
