After running a successful web business for 10+ years, you learn a few tricks along the way. I’m a little reluctant to give this one out, as I don’t want to let our competition in on the secret, but the truth is, it’s so simple, but so good that everyone should know it.
Now, you probably have fallen prey to this particular technique yourself — in fact, in probably most purchases you’ve made, either online or in the store, you’ve been exposed to this.
And, when it comes to today’s websites, most don’t even employ this simple way of showing your offers.
What is it?
Let me give you an example first. Two advertisements for the same product:
| Highly Functional Website
Professional grade features, latest coding standards, high resolution graphics, all at a low price. |
Save Time and Make Money
Our websites are fast to develop, and are visually appealing, to help convert your visitors into customers. |
Which would compel you click further ?
The trick is to tell your visitors what they want to hear. Do you think they want to make money? Save time? How does your product do that? You’re much more likely to get someone to “click further” to learn more, if you’re showing them the BENEFITS up front to get them interested, rather than telling them about the FEATURES and have them overwhelmed with the same rhetoric that your competition is doing.
Features are great, don’t get me wrong, however usually those who are not informed about your particular product offering don’t know exactly what it can do for them, and can be overloaded with “specifications” that mean little or nothing to them.
Tell your visitor what the BENEFITS are, why they should purchase your product or service and you’re more likely to get them to convert.
